Familientag: Bilder voller Licht Die Magie des Impressionismus

In the organizer's words:

How do you paint the ephemeral? How do you capture light and movement with color? Artists such as Monet, Renoir and Degas asked themselves these questions - and created a completely new way of painting with Impressionism. At this year's Family Day at the Wallraf, we will take you on a journey into this luminous world!

In the special exhibition "Swiss Treasures", we will encounter masterpieces from the Museum Langmatt, which houses some of the most important Impressionist paintings in Europe. On an interactive family tour, we explore how the artists transformed light into color, why their paintings seem so vivid and what particularly fascinated them about their environment. What role did nature play? Why did the Impressionists love painting outdoors? And what makes their art so special to this day?

After our joint discovery tour, you can give free rein to your creativity and explore the Impressionist world in a playful way. Exciting hands-on activities await you in the museum studio, and there are great prizes to be won in the big family quiz.

Who is it for?
The program is aimed at families with children between approx. 6 - 10 years and takes place from 10:30 - 16:30. During this time, each group has a time slot of approx. 2 hours. As part of a time slot, you can take part in a family tour, then take part in craft activities in the studio or go on a scavenger hunt through the museum.
