Committed citizens restore the old restaurant in Pischelsdorf to create a lively meeting place against the dying of the pub and to overcome the curse of the last landlady. "Fanni" is the name of the old pub in Pischelsdorf in Upper Bavaria, which has been lovingly restored over three years by committed citizens and transformed into a pub and village home. The documentary takes place at the zenith of the age of the dying inn and offers a solution to counteract it. On the surface, a village pub is renovated, but it is actually the search for a third place that offers community and a balance to family and work. The four protagonists Thomas, Norbert, Konrad and Klaus personalize the qualities required for the initiation and consistent implementation of a project of this magnitude. The gentlemen are shown with their amiable qualities and their flaws. Hovering over the project like a ghost is its namesake, the last landlady. On her deathbed 40 years earlier, she pronounced a curse that had to be avoided with the renovation: "Nothing must be changed in the restaurant!"
