The Fan.Tastic Finals exhibition is a continuation of the original Fan.Tastic Females exhibition, capturing new stories alongside the first wave of interviews. The theme of International Women's Day 2024 promotes a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment for women, and these three principles are fittingly at the heart of the Fan.Tastic Finals concept.
The Fan. Tastic Females - Football Her.Story project told the stories of fan.tastic women through a physical exhibition and digital video portraits about their love and passion for soccer, their journey to the stands, their biggest, most impressive and funniest fan stories, but also about the more difficult experiences of being a woman and a soccer fan.
Following the success of Fan.Tastic Females, the next logical step is to bring the discussion into the context of national team fan communities, with a perfect opportunity to continue the exhibition through to UEFA EURO 2024 this summer before the tour comes to an end. Thanks to funding from the EURO 2024 Football & Culture Foundation, we are creating at least 15 new video portraits of female fans of national teams (find out how you can take part here). These will focus on regional characteristics and offer a broad representation of fan culture. The curation will take into account the diversity of fan culture. We aim for an intersectional representation and invite people from different backgrounds and identities to tell their stories.
The new stories will then tour the UEFA EURO 2024 host cities alongside the original Fan.Tastic Females stories, accompanied by an engaging program of panel discussions and events to promote transcultural exchange between fans from the participating soccer countries.
