In the organizer's words:

lazy and ambitious - that sounds contradictory.

And yet it is precisely these attributions that we often encounter as artists. Be ambitious, but please don't be too ambitious. Allow yourself breaks, but not too many. Be creative, but please also be practical, efficient, visible, modest and successful.

Art is often romanticized - as if it is created effortlessly, always in flow, in complete freedom. Artists are assumed to have unlimited freedom - as if art were a leisure project. Yet artistic work means: Discipline, self-organization, technical know-how, networking, concept development, craftsmanship, exhibition construction, website maintenance, public relations, social media. And sometimes it also means driving vans and setting up until the early hours of the morning. We juggle many professions in one - often unpaid, often invisible.

And this is exactly where our feminist exhibition format comes in:
Three female sculptors from Cologne who use artistic means to take up space - in an art world where care work, the color pink and expansive work by women* is often marginalized or ridiculed.
Each of us brings her own perspective on feminist issues: the examination of invisible care work, the appropriation of colors and materials with female connotations and working with stone, a material traditionally attributed to men because it requires technical and manual skills and strength that are stereotypically denied to women.

So what can you expect?

Spatial objects made of pink-accented corrugated cardboard meet flowing stone sculptures and an artistic examination of care work, which can be symbolically trampled on.

Together we create a temporary landscape between body, material and social expectation.

The exhibition is also accompanied by a:

Feminist quiz through Südstadt
