"Blackbirds and the Sun of October" is the name of the new album by pianist, composer and producer Federico Albanese. It was inspired by his home in Monferrato in northern Italy, where it was written and recorded in its entirety. "It's an album about coming home, but above all about origins and heritage," says the Italian. He draws on a wide range of musical influences and fuses classical music with modern sounds. Albanese felt challenged to explore new directions and ideas in his music. The current work includes compositions that seem timeless and draw on the classical musical traditions of his home region, as well as modern, experimental pieces.
