feeLit 2025: Pippa Goldschmidt & Zoe Beck im Gespräch

From June 29 to July 12, feeLit - International Literature Festival Heidelberg will be hosting its authors at halle02 for the first time. This new festival venue will be all about books and writing. This year, feeLit presents national and international literary stars and brings authors together with their audience.

Pippa Goldschmidt & Zoe Beck in conversation - Deutschstunde

Pippa Goldschmidt has a doctorate in astronomy, grew up in London and now lives as an author in Berlin. Her debut novel Further than the Sky was nominated for the Dundee International Book Prize and her short story collection On the Need to Order Space (CulturBooks, 2018) was longlisted for the Frank O'Connor Short Story Award. In 2018, she was the first scholarship holder of the Dilsberg Residency of the UNESCO City of Literature Heidelberg.

During her stay at the Dilsberg Castle Fortress, she sets off in search of traces of her Jewish grandfather Ernst, who fled from Frankfurt to England in 1936 to escape the National Socialists. After Brexit, Goldschmidt applies for German citizenship and moves to Frankfurt - with the question of whether she can feel at home there despite her family's history.

With great sensitivity, she interweaves personal memories with historical research, family documents and cultural-historical reflections. In conversation with her translator and publisher Zoe Beck, she explores what it means to write between languages, cultures and memories.
