When we heard them for the first time, we were shockingly in love. And we're still in that state today: Chamber pop full of shimmering melancholy and beguiling lyricism that reflects and hurts. Music that dances between worlds, sometimes cautiously, barefoot and childishly wrapped in introspective and fragile treasures in Schwyzerdütsch. Sometimes with artful gestures elegantly on glittering, cinematic pop parquet - in English, please. Greatness is often found in the small things, in the details. In the texts that her hand sends into the dark, but through which a ray of light always breaks through like the sun through the wall of clouds over the ocean. Fragility, softness, strength and the tones in between.
Growing up in a family of violin makers, To Athena was in contact with music from birth. A passion for stringed instruments, a childhood of 80s synth-pop and an awareness of relevant issues now form the amalgam from which To Athena creates her cosmos and from which her 2020 album debut Aquatic Ballet was born. In her second album The Movie, she delves even deeper into her inner world and searches for reasons and abysses, for which she was honored with the Swiss Music Award in 2023.
