Felix Klingner Quartett – Jazz

a Monk on a Shorter Trane
A tribute concert by the quartet around Felix Klingner (violin), dedicated to the compositions of Wayne Shorter, Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane. The lyrical, ecstatic saxophone escapades of John Coltrane meet the harmonically sophisticated melodies of Wayne Shorter, paired with the rhythmic sophistication and motivic wit of Thelonious Monk.

The four musicians Tobias Fröhlich (bass), Uli Hübner (saxophone), Daniel Klein (drums) and Felix Klingner (violin) have set themselves the task of carefully preserving the virtues of the originals and further developing the material in terms of its inherent complexity, spectral fascination and spirituality. In addition to expressive moments of improvisation and free interaction within familiar trio sounds, you can also expect new perspectives on familiar works. The collision of familiar instrumentation and alternative instrumentation leads to a dialog between tradition and modernity - a sonic exchange between violin and saxophone, carried by a comforting foundation of bass and drums.
