Thomas Mann's "Felix Krull" is a captivating memoir of a cunning criminal and fantasist who easily wraps good society around his finger and makes his way to the top. Felix Krull breaks away from his bankrupt parents' home in the Rheingau to use his "natural talent for good form" to play to the rich, beautiful and powerful exactly what they want to see in him. In this way, he evades the military, playfully seduces the ladies of Paris and finally swaps identities with the Marquis de Venosta, who is threatened with disinheritance. Now nothing seems to stand in the way of a glamorous life full of "love lust"... Felix, the lucky one, the emperor of swindlers and thieves.
