UMSTEUERN! shows "#FEMALE PLEASURE" at the Filmhaus

There will be another movie night with UMSTEUERN! On March 12, 2025 at 7.30 pm in the Filmhaus (Maybachstr. 111, 50670 Cologne) we will show the film "#FEMALE PLEASURE". Five courageous, smart and self-determined women are at the center of Barbara Miller's documentary "#FEMALE PLEASURE". They break the taboo of silence and shame imposed on them by society or their religious communities with their archaic patriarchal structures. Deborah Feldman, Leyla Hussein, Rokudenashiko, Doris Wagner and Vithika Yadav are committed to sexual education and self-determination for all women with incredible positive energy and all their strength, defying all social and religious norms and barriers. They pay a high price for this - they are publicly defamed, persecuted and threatened, rejected by their former environment and even threatened with death by religious leaders and fanatical believers. "#FEMALE PLEASURE" is a film that depicts how universal and transcends all cultural and religious boundaries the mechanisms that determine the situation of women - regardless of the form of society - are to this day. At the same time, the five protagonists show us how any structure can be changed with courage, strength and joie de vivre. The film by Barbara Miller ("Forbidden Voices") is a plea for the right to self-determination and against the demonization of female desire by religion and social restrictions.
