Antifeminism offers people tempting ways of thinking and acting. It promises men* status, prosperity and the feeling that their problems will be heard. Women*, on the other hand, are offered security through traditional gender roles - visible, for example, in the trend of "tradwives".
The aim of this interactive lecture is to better understand the complexity of anti-feminism. What is behind the skepticism towards democracy and the hatred of women and queer people? What impact does anti-feminism have on the realities of FLINTA* people's lives? And how can anti-feminism be dealt with?
Maike Stemmler shares insights from the publication "Men in feminism - why and how?". A model project funded by the Federal Agency for Civic Education.
Maike Stemmler works as a political education officer, dance teacher and project coordinator at Detox Identity in Cologne. She is currently focusing on movement as a learning method, bodywork and classism.
