This concert evening is about being far from the beaten track, about creative power in times of upheaval and about music on the move.

Works are created in exile and in inner emigration. A sonata accompanies its creator over years of flight, piano music is written in the savannah, some journeys are even completely invented and yet are a hit. A composer stays in the New World after being stranded - and why is an aluminum grand piano on Zeppelin's maiden flight?

It's about Henriëtte Bosmans, Adolf Busch and Ignacy Paderweski, who rebelled against National Socialism far from the beaten track. It is about Louis Moreau Gottschalk, the first Afro-American to achieve world fame, about George Antheil, who makes a great invention with the actress Hedy Lamar, and about Ernst Bachrich, who is destroyed by National Socialism.

Fantastic works lead to other worlds. A program that invites you to travel with music, to stories full of surprises, tensions and the tragedy that life writes.
