A disaster shakes an entire town: On October 23, 1980, there was a huge propane gas explosion in the basement of the school that six-year-old Nuco attended. Fifty children and three teachers died in the accident, including Nuco. Every Thursday, old Nicasio goes to the cemetery, visits his grandson's grave and talks to him, telling the boy what's happening in the world. While his father José Miguel wants to cut off all memory so as not to be broken by grief, Nuco's mother Mariaje cannot let go of what has happened.

A moving family story full of humanity that tells us what we hide from each other and how we start all over again.

Fernando Aramburu was born in San Sebastián in the Basque Country. He has lived in Hanover since the mid-1980s. He has received numerous awards for his novels (including Patria).

Margarete von Schwarzkopf lives as a freelance journalist, author, literary critic and presenter in Cologne and Hanover.

Rainer Frank is a freelance actor and has been involved in numerous film and radio play productions.
