Ellen (Laura Tonke) is enjoying the 2019 New Year's Eve party with her friends. But when the other couples are in each other's arms at midnight, she feels alone. It's not always like this: she's having an affair with the married Sebastian (Ronald Zehrfeld), but no one is allowed to know. In the years that follow - during which the group of friends struggle with marital problems, compulsory masks, fears of war and illness - the affair threatens to destroy friendships. This turbulent tragicomedy thrives on its diverse, consistently strong ensemble (including Nicholas Ofczarek, Annette Frier, Trystan Pütter, Jasmin Shakeri and Antje Traue), which often subtly, sometimes crudely, deals with the crises of recent years. A stirring, multifaceted, sometimes touching tragicomedy.
