Panchabhoota - The Voice of Nature (Arr. Indro Roy-Chowdhury)
There are seasons all over the world, but depending on where we are, they look - or sound - different. Around 300 years ago, Antonio Vivaldi set spring, summer, fall and winter to music in a "European" way in his concert cycle "The Four Seasons". Kala Ramnath, on the other hand, traces the seasons (divided into a total of six periods) of her home country India in her composition "Indian Seasons", arranged by the accomplished composer and sitar player Indro Roy-Chowdhury. Following the concert opener - together with the celebrated percussionist Bickram Ghosh - the master of the Indian violin will then juxtapose her musical impressions of the cycle of seasons with Vivaldi's famous concertos. At the height of Duisburg's spring, both works will enter into a global, not just meteorological dialog, which will be thematically complemented by Kala Ramnath's new work "Panchabhoota - The Voice of Nature". In five movements, the composer explores the classical Indian pentatonic sound of the primordial elements ether (Akash), air (Vayu), fire (Agni), water (Āpas) and earth (Prithvi).
