19:00 - Introductory talk in the monastery library.
Admired by his pupil Johann Adolf Hasse as the greatest master of harmony in Italy, and therefore throughout the world, and praised in his epitaph as a renewer of music: Alessandro Scarlatti (1660-1725) is often spoken of in superlatives. On the 300th anniversary of the death of the forefather of the Neapolitan school, Dorothee Oberlinger and her Ensemble 1700 provide insights into the masterful art of his instrumental works and pair them with effective vocal compositions. The Brazilian soprano Bruno de Sá lends them his crystal-clear soprano - similar to the divine Farinelli of old - which competes with Dorothee Oberlinger's flauto dolce - as if symbolizing the siren Parthenope, the patron goddess of Naples.
Concert with interval. Ends at around 21:50.
