Film "Aus dem Nichts" von Fatih Akin

To mark the national day of remembrance for the victims of terrorist violence (March 11), the Kommunale Kino Hannover, in cooperation with the ZeitZentrum Zivilcourage and the Region Hannover - Gedenkstätte Ahlem, is showing the award-winning feature film "Aus dem Nichts" by Fatih Akin.

The film was inspired by a nail bomb attack carried out by the National Socialist Underground (NSU) in Cologne in 2004 and focuses in particular on the perspective of those affected. A welcoming address introduces the film screening.

"Katja from Hamburg is thrown completely off course when her husband Nuri and her son Rocco are killed in a terrorist bomb attack. She plunges into a deep crisis, turns to drugs and contemplates suicide. Eventually, the police manage to identify and arrest the assassins: they are the neo-Nazi couple André and Edda. André's own father had put the investigators on the right track. But Katja's hope that the murderers will be convicted of their crime is not fulfilled: after a grueling trial, in which Nuri's best friend Danilo acts as Katja's lawyer, Edda and André are acquitted for lack of evidence.
