Filmfest | Film Talk & Screening | CUNNINGHAM mit Alla Kovgan

In the organizer's words:

Choreographer Merce Cunningham is regarded as one of the leading figures in contemporary dance. In the 1940s and 50s, he worked closely with the musician John Cage and the painter Robert Rauschenberg. As part of the 5 Freunde exhibition, Museum Brandhorst is collaborating with FILMFEST MÜNCHEN and inviting director Alla Kovgan, who has long been exploring the staging of dance in film and dedicated her 2019 documentary CUNNINGHAM to this exceptional artist.

In an in-depth FilmTalk, she will talk about the making of the film, talk about Cunningham himself, but also about the staging of dance in general and her use of 3D technology to make dance in cinema more tangible.

Following the discussion, CUNNINGHAM will be screened as part of FILMFEST MÜNCHEN (28.06. - 06.07.) at 20:30 in the ASTOR Film Loung at ARRI (ARRI Hall). Tickets available at the FILMFEST MÜNCHEN
