Come to FILMFEST HAMBURG and experience Nepalese cinema

When two boys are kidnapped in a border town, policewoman Pooja is sent from Kathmandu to solve the case. But the situation on the ground turns out to be more complicated than expected. Not only is Pooja confronted with the prejudices of patriarchal society, but the investigation is also caught up in the maelstrom of the burgeoning unrest and violent protests between the government and the Madhesi minority.

A grippingly staged crime film that sheds light on the issues of discrimination in the context of Nepal's political unrest.

DEEPAK RAUNIYAR (*1978 in Nepal) is a filmmaker. His debut Highway (2012), which premiered at the Berlinale, was the first film from Nepal to be shown at an A-list festival. He next directed White Sun (2016), which, like Pooja, Sir , premiered in the Orizzonti section of the Venice Film Festival.
