The paintings of the artist Güler Yücel tell of weddings and funerals, of almond blossom and olive harvest, of her husband, the poet, and of herself, her love of life and wisdom. "I can't paint anything I haven't seen," says Güler Yücel. She is a chronicler and prophet, because her paintings describe the cycle of life that we find again and again in everyday life: on the Turkish peninsula of Datça, where the wind of two seas blows and women call the shots.

About East-West Passages: '

Ostwestpassagen' is a private foundation run on a voluntary basis. It contributes to the dialog between cultures and focuses its work on a peace-promoting discourse between Orient and Occident. In keeping with the name of the foundation, events are held that highlight the diverse and multi-layered connections between the cultures and promote mutual understanding. The 'East-West Passages' open up access to sometimes unknown worlds and encourage an exchange about different, sometimes conflicting or shared interpretations of foreign cultures. The initiators strive for a differentiated perception beyond idealization and devaluation. The Ostwestpassagen cultural initiative was launched at the beginning of 2015 and its work was transferred to a foundation in 2022. The foundation's work is always carried out in cooperation with other institutions and individuals.
