In "Tracing Light", Thomas Riedelsheimer explores the phenomenon of light and brings together two disciplines that deal with it in different ways and enter into a dialog - art and physics. From the Outer Hebrides in Scotland and the Advanced Research Center at the University of Glasgow to the Max Planck Institute in Erlangen, the film follows leading scientists and internationally renowned artists such as Ruth Jarman, Joe Gerhardt, Julie Brook, Johannes Brunner and Raimund Ritz. Between super slow motion, laser table soccer, "Firestacks" and quantum theory, they explore the questions: What is light as a material? How do photons behave?
