What happens when technology from science fiction films suddenly becomes part of everyday life?

Inspired by the meme of the same name , our new film series Torment Nexus explores the complex and often contradictory relationship between imaginative cinema and real technology.

In the first season, we focus in particular on the topic of artificial intelligence - a technology in which a fierce competition is currently raging between tech giants and start-ups for supremacy. Will AI lead us into a brave new world or the apocalypse - or is it all just hot air in the end and will less change than we think?

We take a look at what answers cinema can give us. Every first Wednesday at Odeon Kino, we show a classic film that has significantly shaped our ideas about artificial intelligence. HER (2013) kicks things off.
