Finissage: Chelsea Legay – Abstract Portraits

In the organizer's words:

Chelsea is from Hawaii, but has lived all over the US and the world, and now it's Hanover's turn. Five years ago, while traveling, she began translating her impressions of other people's energy and character into light-filled, colorful portraits. You could call these portraits energy impressions, aura portraits, nonsensical shapes and lines or wannabe cave drawings, but essentially each image is an impression of an energetic human moment. Regardless of where each image lands on the emotional spectrum, the bright, geometric works are meant to stimulate the imagination beyond the edge of the page and convey the power and beauty of aliveness.

Chelsea is from Hawaii, though she's lived all over the US and the world, and is now centered in Hannover. Five years ago, while traveling, she started translating her impressions of others' energy and character into light-filled, colorful portraits. Call them energy impressions, aura portraits, nonsense shapes and lines, or wannabe cave drawings, but at the end of the day, each image is an impression of an energetic human moment. Regardless of the point on the emotion spectrum on which each image lands, the backlit, bright, geometric images are meant to inspire imagination beyond the edge of the page, and convey the unique puzzle, strength, and beauty of aliveness.

At the vernissage there will be a short talk with the artist in which she will present her creative process. The talk will be held in English and will be translated into German as it happens. More information about the artist at www.chelsealoves.art.
