Firstborn Unicorn stands for diversity in every respect, especially musically the guys from Frankfurt offer a colorful palette between funk rock and hip hop. Lyrical rap, virtuoso guitar playing and driving rhythms are among the core elements of Firstborn Unicorn's live performance. Eric and Alu have been playing together since 2016 and with Finn since the beginning of 2022 on stages all over Germany. For example at the Blues & Jazz Festival in Bamberg, or at Lehmitz, the cult pub on the Reeperbahn in St. Pauli. Last summer, the boys played at the Trebur
Trebur Open Air on the main stage. In their luggage: some new songs and a new program.
Firstborn Unicorn announced the release of a new album at the beginning of 2022: "We did what we enjoy most and went through a transformation along the way. We've found our own way," says singer and songwriter Eric, describing the new album. It is the epitome of personal maturation and reflects the progress the band have made compared to their last album from 2020.
2020: "We take things as they are and don't rack our brains about everything so often anymore," explains bassist Alu.
The basic mood in "Faded Paint" is no longer as gloomy as in their last work, Off Outside, in which FU mainly criticized the fact that humanity is distancing itself from nature and locking itself up in artificially created systems. Nevertheless, the band criticizes today's modern society with tracks such as "Asap" with the accompanying music video or "Lucky 13".
society today: "We criticize how wasteful humanity is and how little is done about it, or that we all stare motionlessly into our smartphones all the time - these are issues that concern many people.
These topics are of course constantly on the minds of many generations and are highly topical," says Eric.
The boys also use the term "faded" to describe another phenomenon that is currently on their minds: "In our late 20s, the first layer of paint is off, so to speak, and there is a danger of ending up doing nothing, of becoming comfortable," says Alu. Fittingly, the topic of social media also flows into her 10-track album: In "Faded Paint", they get to the heart of how the illusory worlds on the internet increase the pressure on real life.
In the single "Sit and Wait", released on April 22, the Frankfurt-based band also address the pandemic circumstances of recent years. Of course, Frankfurt also finds its place on the new record - and not just in the title "Beats of The City". Incidentally, the cover was painted by an artist from the region: "We met Reinhard Mauer from Karben at a concert - which ultimately resulted in the cover," report Eric, Alu and Finn.
Firstorn Unicorn (FU) was founded in Frankfurt am Main in 2016. Their music shows influences from various genres, including rap rock, funk metal and hip hop. The band consists of Eric (vocals & guitar), Alu (bass) and Finn (drums, since 2022).

DIE FIRMA DANKT is a German-speaking hip-hop/funk group from Konstanz/Mannheim. They got to know each other at a jam session at the Forum Mannheim in May 2023 and specialized in the band support program Mannheim, these smart gentlemen have mutated into a "live experience".
