Touring exhibition on the European Citizens' Initiative HouseEurope.eu

The traveling exhibition FIX IT! - CONVERSION INSTEAD OF DEMOLITION is stopping off in Hanover this summer. It supports the call of the European citizens' initiative HouseEurope! (www.houseeurope.eu/de), which is looking for one million supporters across Europe by the end of January 2026. The initiative calls for refurbishment and modernization to be prioritized over demolition and new construction in favour of more ecologically and socially effective building practices.

As a pop-up exhibition, the FIX IT! - RECONSTRUCTION INSTEAD OF DEMOLITION is touring Germany for a year, promoting the debate on reconstruction and democracy and collecting signatures for HouseEurope! In addition to information on the European Citizens' Initiative and HouseEurope!, successful projects from the BDA's nationwide conversion atlas will be on display. Local examples and regional particularities in conversion practice will complement and expand the exhibition for the duration of the exhibition.

FIX IT! - CONVERSION INSTEAD OF DEMOLITION was initiated and produced by Architects for Future (A4F) for HouseEurope! in cooperation with the Association of German Architects (BDA). It was made possible by the Allianz Foundation.

The Hanover station of the traveling exhibition is curated by the A4F local group Hanover with the support of the BDA Niedersachsen and sponsored by the Niedersächsische Sparkassenstiftung and the Sparkasse Hannover. The premises have been arranged by the Agentur für kreative Zwischenraumnutzung e.V.
