In the organizer's words:

The new play Flächenbrand by Theater zur weiten Welt takes the audiencehigh up - into an airplane flying in the middle of an increasingly chaotic world. While the passengerswatch films, read or chat, things are boiling on the ground: air currents get mixed up, a wildfire breaks out and finally violent turbulence shakes the plane. Suddenly it becomes clear that the normality they are clinging to is about to topple.

Eve Leigh's play poses pressing questions: What will future generations think of us? How will they judge our actions or our failures as the climate crisis escalates? And how long can we continue to delude ourselves that everything will be fine? Between places of longing, time travel, bad snacks and snow monkeys, Flächenbrand tells of a world that is irrevocably changing - and of the hope that change is still possible.

In this co-production by Theater zur weiten Welt and Theater für Alle, professional ensemble members are joined on stage by citizens of Lüneburg.
