Flup-pe /Flúppe/ noun, feminine [the]stands colloquially for cigarette. It is therefore an almost cute-sounding word for a not entirely harmless thing. Here and there, a bad-tempered facial expression is also referred to as a fag. Both descriptions fit the band pretty well.
fluppe are the stalk that has no place in your front garden, the bird shit on your Volkswagen. fluppe are a post-punk quartet from the Hanseatic city of Hamburg, who also have a soft spot for pop and shoegaze. Former Intro boss Daniel Koch (e.g. Musikexpress, Diffus) writes: "(...) musically, these mangy-poetic post-punk bands like shame, Protomartyr or IDLES come to mind." If you combine this with the attitude and skepticism towards existing conditions typical of the Hamburg School, you have roughly the coordinates. That's all you need.
