Angola, 1961: Domingos Xavier, an activist against the Portuguese colonial power, is kidnapped by the secret police. His wife Maria sets off on foot in search of him with her baby on her back and an iron will to save her family. The first African feature film by a Black woman adds a decidedly female perspective to male-dominated narratives about African liberation struggles.
