Folkwang Summer Theater 2025 presents "Romeo and Juliet"

From Thursday, July 3, the popular Folkwang Summer Theater will take place in Bochum's Schlosspark Weitmar. Folkwang third-year drama students invite you to Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet". With Free admission, visitors can look forward to an entertaining evening of theater in the open air, which conveys the breathlessness of the love story in a playing time of about two hours.

For the special performance situation in the park, the Folkwang students set themselves the challenge of making the highly poetic language tangible for the entire audience.

The Shakespeare performances in the park look back on a long tradition: the drama students performed there from 1993 to 2008. Since the successful revival in 2022, 10,000 enthusiastic visitors have once again been drawn to the performances in Weitmarer Schlosspark. The audience traditionally follows the action up close - with a free choice of seats and seating such as folding chairs or picnic blankets.

The eponymous characters from William Shakespeare's tragedy "Romeo and Juliet" have become the most famous lovers in literary history since the play was published in 1597. The play offers a timeless theme about passionate love and its limits through family and social counter-images, which inspires with its highly poetic and lyrical language.

The actors are: Leona Bert, Leo Domogalski, Mia "Mika" Friedmann, Olga Matus, Nils Miekisch, Carlos Motolese-Trausan, Carla Njine, Emil Filippo Schüler, Pauline Stine Steger and Felina Zenner from the 3rd year drama class.
