At Food & Footage, filmmakers and chefs come together to combine moving images with a three-course meal - bringing current social, cultural and political issues to the table.
This edition is curated by PLANT STORIES and is dedicated to the ambivalence of beauty and violence in botanical gardens - and the question of how these contradictions can be dealt with responsibly.
The film Schauhaus focuses on the botanical garden in Berlin-Dahlem. A group of people encounter traces of colonial and imperial thinking there - as well as the utopian potential that this place harbors. The screening at the ZK/U is also the Berlin premiere of the film.
In addition, bingenTV approaches the topic through speculative storytelling: The focus is on human-plant relationships that are characterized by extractive and patriarchal structures. At the same time, bingenTV shows how queer communities of care - between humans and species - have always existed and resisted, even if their stories have not always been documented.
The films will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers, moderated by Anguezomo Nzé Mba Bikoro.

"The world in a garden" - the construction of the Botanical Garden in Berlin-Dahlem began with this claim to omnipotence. The deeper you go, the clearer the traces of imperial thinking become.

bingenTV takes place in a fictional talk show set in 1987. Playful, flirtatious and wonderfully bizarre, the talk show takes the audience into the world of the Hildegard von Bingen Gesellschaft für Gartengenossinnen, a queer-feminist collective. The work is also a trenchant commentary on how history is recorded, whose stories are allowed to be told and how we know about the past.
