At Food & Footage, filmmakers and chefs come together week after week to interweave cinema and cuisine. The focus is on current social, cultural and political topics - served with a three-course menu and room for discussion.

"Vitić Dances (Vitić pleše)" by Boris Bakal kicks off 2025 - a multi-layered documentary about memory, community and urban space. In a personal narrative style and through the method of spatial memory, the film opens up a dialog about architecture, society and the traces that people leave behind.

To accompany the screening, we invite you to a communal dinner, which - inspired by the film - will be prepared by our kitchen team and the director himself. In keeping with our idea of bringing people together through film, food and conversation.

The feature-length documentary follows artist Boris Bakal's twenty-year involvement with the restoration of a modernist apartment block in Zagreb - in dialog and in struggle with the building community. The building becomes a symbol of social processes, misunderstandings and the dynamic between individual commitment and collective interest - in Croatia, Europe and beyond.

A hypertextual narrative about the meaning and limits of personal commitment to the common good. A film about all of us, about the foreign in our own, and about what lies in between. And: a happy ending - with a double bottom.

The screening is free of charge; the purchase of dinner is not a prerequisite for attending the movie night. The price for the menu is 15 euros per person (drinks not included).

The menu will be announced on the Thursday before the event; allergens will be clearly marked.
