It is said that there was once a young man of keen intellectual talent, an ingenious student of alchemy - Victor Frankenstein - who created a monster at the sight of which, it is said, once brought to life, even his own creator fled in horror. The story of the scientist Victor Frankenstein and his monster, which the author Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley wrote down when she was just 19 years old, is a story about life and death. It raises the question of what humanity can mean and what responsibility we bear for our creations. Mary Shelley's text from 1818 is considered the first work of "science fiction" and takes on an almost prophetic character in times of artificial intelligence.
