Frantisek Uhlír Team feat. Andy Schofield

Bassist František Uhlíř is currently the most prominent jazz musician on the Czech scene. The music of the František Uhlíř team, which has existed since 1987, is fed by Western sources, but is not a Czech replica of the American mainstream. The musicians see themselves as a living organism, which, as one critic suggested, is a very good way to describe them: František Uhlíř is the soul, Andy Schofield the voice, Standa Mácha the framework, Jarmír Heleąic the heart of a musically convincing unit. With great expertise and distinctive intuition, the team interprets standards and original compositions, which in turn are based on standards. The František Uhlíř Team plays regularly not only in Prague's jazz clubs (Agharta, Reduta, Jazzdock), but also at various festivals and has toured extensively throughout half of Europe.

Frontman Andy Schofield grew up in Manchester and has lived in Prague for several years. As a saxophonist, he has played with many international jazz greats such as Kenny Wheeler, Bill Frisell, Mike Gibbs and Anthony Braxton, but also as a soloist with pop star George Michael. He has also been in demand as an arranger for renowned formations such as the BBC Big Band and Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club Orchestra.
