Concert

Telling stories with music - in its second residency project, the franz ensemble is devoting itself to the tales from the Arabian Nights from different perspectives and presenting the famous symphonic poem "Scheherazade" by Nikolaj Rimsky-Korsakov in a new octet version arranged especially for the ensemble.

You can also look forward to a world premiere by Bremen composer Keno Hankel. "One from the Thousand and One Nights" sets the story of the fairy tale collection to music, in which King Shahriyar takes a new lover every night - only to kill her the next morning. Scheherazade, the daughter of the vizier, becomes the exception: every night she tells him a new story, but she saves the end for herself - the origin of the modern "cliffhanger". The composition translates this nightly ritual into sound and oscillates between cinematic drama and humorous Mickey Mousing.

Both works have one thing in common: the sounds sketch out images, the imagination paints them.

Free of charge with Kultursemesterticket. Valid for students of the University of Bremen, Bremen University of Applied Sciences, Bremen University of the Arts, Ottersberg University of the Arts. Presentation of the current semester ticket upon admission to the event is not required. Reduced prices apply to school pupils, students, trainees, people under 18 and people with severe disabilities. Proof of eligibility must be presented at the entrance.
