In 2004,Franz Ferdinand released their debut album "Franz Ferdinand", which has since gone quadruple platinum, and it quickly became clear how much the band from Glasgow, Scotland, would shape the British rock scene. Their song "Take Me Out" became an absolute global hit and the band's post-punk-influenced indie rock sound was played on radios around the world. Today, Franz Ferdinand are credited with playing a major role in the post-punk revival of the 2000s. With songs such as "Do You Want To" and "No You Girls", the band built on the success of their debut on the two subsequent albums and reached number 2 in the official album charts with both "You Could Have It So Much Better" (2005) and "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" (2009). Several UK Top 20 hits in the 2000s were followed by further Top 10 placings, gold records, two Brit Awards and several Grammy Award nominations. In January 2025, Franz Ferdinand released their seventh album, "The Human Fear", which was praised by the press for its "wealth of ideas" (Mojo) and "loads of fun" (Classic Pop) and celebrated by fans at sold-out shows around the world. On their GREATER GLASGOW EUROPEAN CULTURAL EXCHANGE TOUR 2026, Franz Ferdinand will also be coming to Munich, Berlin, Cologne and Frankfurt.

Founded in Scotland in 2001 by Alex Kapranos (vocals & guitar), Robert Hardy (bass), Nicholas McCarty (guitar & keyboard) and Paul Thomas (drums), Franz Ferdinand spent two years forging their unique indie sound, which marked the beginning of a global career with influences from 70s and 80s post-punk and new wave on their debut album "Franz Ferdinand" in 2004. The second album "You Could Have It So Much Better" followed in 2005 and jumped to number 1 in the British album charts, while in the USA it made it into the top 10 of the Billboard 200 and made the band internationally famous. The band also enjoyed early success in Germany, which they further expanded on their third album "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" (2009). "Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Actions " (2013) consolidated the status of the band, who collaborated with Sparks on the album "FFS" in 2015. Following the departure of Nicholas McCarthy in 2016, Dino Bardot (guitar and percussion) and Julian Corrie (keyboard & percussion) joined the band in 2017 and contributed to the album "Always Ascending" (2018). At the end of 2021, drummer Paul Thomson left the band and was replaced by Audrey Tait. After the release of their best-of album "Hits to the Head" (2022), Franz Ferdinand returned to the top 3 of the UK charts in 2025 with their seventh album "The Human Fear" . It's still the same musical ideas and approach that Franz Ferdinand pursue through their fresh, undying and forward-looking outlook with big ideas, big riffs and something a little different.
