Tour
Tour leader: Christine Rietzke, active in civil society since 1984
What did committed and active women* experience and demand before/during/after 1989/1990 in the GDR? Which projects, associations and initiatives developed from this - and which questions are still relevant today...?
We will visit places in Leipzig City with a connection to the activities of women* in 1989/90 - from the founding of the Leipzig Women's Initiative, to the first autonomous women's newspaper in the GDR, to the participation of the UFV in the first free Volkskammer elections in the GDR; from demonstrations against §218, among other things, to the founding of the Women and Culture Department in the StuRa of Leipzig University, and much more.
This tour through Leipzig's city centre was developed because the visibility of the history of women*, of activists* of the former GDR in the pre- and post-reunification period is still little known, among others by people who are not GDR-socialized or who did not experience this time due to their age. It is an interactive format to share knowledge and experiences and also an offer against forgetting our history. | Registration until 19.05.2025
