Midsummer night on a Swedish country estate. The young count's daughter Julie gets involved with the house servant Jean. She flirts with him uninhibitedly, provokes and insults him, becomes intrusive -- until the hesitant Jean gives in.
A sophisticated game of love and power begins - and in the light of the new morning, the roles are reversed: Jean is the master of the situation, Julie the fallen and humiliated one. And so the disaster takes its course ...
Intense and provocative, Fräulein Julie illuminates not only the destructive power of social norms, but also the fragility of personal identity and the complexity of human relationships.
