Freeride Filmfestival 2024: THE ART OF RE:CONNECTION

In the organizer's words:

FFF Cinema Edition: from November 10, 2024 in around 130 cinemas across Europe

The motto of this year's Freeride Film Festival (FFF) with its five spectacular and experimental freeride films is "THE ART OF RE:CONNECTION" and stands for a reconnection on many levels. The spectrum ranges from flow experiences in nature and active environmental protection to the humorous relationship between a skier and a snowboarder and the exploration of other cultures and their perspectives on the mountains. All of this is garnished with big mountain action at the highest level, individual excellence in the backcountry and the most extraordinary lines.

The films at a glance

Stasis
Svea Irving's life is turbulent: a bachelor's degree, halfpipe ski pro in the World Cup and at the X-Games, with her sights set on the 2026 Olympic Games. But she also likes to hang out in the backcountry. One element connects all of these things, and that is nature. "With this film, we want to show that in all the chaos of the different elements of her life, there is a beauty that comes together at that point of stasis - that moment of absolute stillness," explains director Griffin Glendinning.

The Red Face Zone
Truly mysterious things happen to the Weger brothers Matthias and Jakob. Their faces are bright red. Anger, conflict and aggression are in the air. In a panic, they discover that they are suffering from "red face syndrome". The only cure is to ride the most brutal and narrowest lines in the Dolomites. Entertaining, shocking entertainment, brilliantly presented by mastermind Marco Tribelhorn. Incidentally, the idea for the film was born on the FFF 2023 tour bus.

Sariri
What drives people to go to the mountains? Five protagonists from Switzerland, Austria, Bolivia and Peru push themselves to their limits as they conquer various 6,000-metre-high cliffs in the Andes on skis. With the first ascent of the 6,074 meter high "Chachacomani" in Bolivia, the mountaineers also take risks. A wonderful film with a gentle pace, magnificent images, strong portraits and plenty of food for thought. Directed by Paul Schweller, who at the age of 23 already has the award-winning film "metanoia" to his name.

SCUrrari
Freeride World Tour snowboarder Timm Schröder (a.k.a. Timmy Shredder) and ski pro Dino Flatz show with a twinkle in their eyes why it's much more fun to be out and about in the mountains together, despite the different equipment. The movie whets the appetite for powder, fun and friendship. A real fun movie on the Arlberg and in the Zillertal, which takes nothing seriously - except the alpine dangers of freeriding. Plus a great hip-hop soundtrack with tracks specially produced for the film by rapper "Doomaniac".

Farming Turns
Chris Rubens turns from freeride star to organic farmer. This not only makes his life more sustainable, but also strengthens his connection to the community and the mountains in his home town of Revelstoke, Canada. As a new father, he is constantly optimizing his everyday life so that his son Huxley can grow up in the best possible world. The authentic narrative comes from multiple international award-winning adventure documentary filmmaker Anthony Bonello, whose productions have more than 20 million online views on various platforms such as Netflix.
