To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Stegreif is traveling through the last musical Stegreif years with five programs and in July it continues with an extraordinary program: freesolo.
This program is dedicated to an intensive exploration of the core themes of the Stegreif Orchestra - improvisation and community. The classical solo concerto is completely rethought in freesolo: we recompose various iconic works that merge with different improvisation techniques to create an expression of freedom and togetherness.
In this program, we look at different eras and composers, including Dvořák, Bach and Bartók, and tell our very own story of the development from autocracy to competition and anarchy to collaboration. The focus is on the role of the soloist and the community in the orchestra: how can individual leadership and collective listening be balanced? How can action and reaction, loud demands and quiet perception be experienced artistically?
In the special location of the Kühlhaus, the musicians meet in an arena and exciting negotiations between the individual and the community can be experienced. We invite you to celebrate this part of our birthday series "10 years of Stegreif"!
