FREEZE

In the organizer's words:

With children and young people aged 11 to 15, the young dance theater workshop of 4.D uses theater, dance, music and song to illuminate the current facets of the fairy tale "The Snow Queen".

The fairy tale by Danish poet Hans Christian Andersen, first published in 1844, tells the story of the girl Gerda, who is looking for her friend Kai, who has been kidnapped by the Snow Queen. Kai longs for change and the Snow Queen, with her coldness and beauty, continues to cast her under her spell. The broken pieces of mirror that penetrate Kai's heart and eye symbolize her blindness and loss of orientation. Everything beautiful and good suddenly appears ugly and evil. The story raises the question of whether it is still possible to save Kai - and whether it is worth searching for her.

As part of "FREEZE", the young TanzTheaterWerkstatt explores what it means when people simply disappear from their own environment. What happens when someone, like Kai, follows a seductive but dangerous illusion?
