Freibad oder Shut up and swim!

In the organizer's words:

A movement theater piece for ages 10 and up

The second world premiere at LUTZ takes the audience to a special place where sky-high joy and deep misfortune go hand in hand: the outdoor pool. It is a small island of bliss and at the same time the arena of a merciless spectacle. It makes you dream of a never-ending summer and, in the next moment, many a young idea is drowned in the blue-tiled square. But if you don't dare, you can always go under, because the motto of every summer is: shut up and swim.

The young choreographer Maria Savva has developed choreographies with students from Folkwang University that will whet the audience's appetite for sunbathing moments and swimming animal adventures. Together with the texts written by LUTZ director Anja Schöne after conversations with young people about the small worries and big longings on the threshold between childhood and adolescence, this will be a moving piece about a place where the cards are reshuffled and everyone is allowed to reinvent themselves between soft ice cream and the diving tower.

The production will of course be performed at the Lutz, but it can also be booked as a mobile production and will be performed in gyms, swimming pools and anywhere else where young people would like to be an active part of the performance.
