Fremder als der Mond

In the organizer's words:

Bertolt Brecht was not only a playwright, theater theorist, political thinker and founder of the Berliner Ensemble, but also a gifted lyricist and singer-songwriter avant la lettre. Stranger than the Moon interweaves Brecht songs by Hanns Eisler and others with poetry and autobiographical prose to create a musical-fragmentary life story. It is about the development of an artistic personality, the difficulties of love life, war, exile and returning home - and about death and the relationship between the author and posterity.

The singer and actress Katharine Mehrling, known to Berlin audiences for her performances at the Komische Oper Berlin and the Bar jeder Vernunft, will be appearing at the Berliner Ensemble for the first time, with Paul Herwig at her side.
