London, September 3, 1939: World War II has just broken out; Sigmund Freud, living in exile and seriously ill with cancer, invites the writer and Oxford professor C. S. Lewis to his home, ostensibly to discuss the book "The Pilgrim's Regress". In reality, however, it is about religion and faith - Lewis, formerly a convinced atheist, has converted to Christianity.
In the fictional meeting, two great thinkers of the 20th century - the father of psychoanalysis and the later author of "The Chronicles of Narnia" - engage in a controversial discourse about love, faith, the future of humanity and the all-important question for them: Is there a God? This against the backdrop of Freud's approaching death, the atrocities of the Nazis - and the needs of Freud's daughter Anna.
