The feature film FRESH is based on the Arts Foundation Award-winning novel of the same name (OT "Fresh") by Mark McNay.

Time is running against KAI (24). Today, his violent brother MIRKO (27) is released from prison early. And tonight he will come to Kai's house to get back the money Kai was supposed to keep for him: 10,000 EURO. The problem is... the money is spent. Welcome to the life of Kai - husband, father and worker in a meat processing plant in the Ruhr area.
Kai lives with his wife AYSE (23) and daughter JENNY (4) in a run-down area, many of the gray walls of the houses are crumbling and graffiti lines the streets. Work is scarce, but Kai, like his uncle ANDY (51), toils away in the factory to offer his family a better life. Nevertheless, the money is barely enough and when Mirko suddenly reappears, Kai sees his modest but peaceful life threatened. The money that Mirko once hid from him has long since been spent to support his family.
