The first-person narrator is called "Motte" by her father, who works in a factory, knows the best places to hide when playing, but is also a drinker, like almost all the men in the family. Motte has also been drinking too much for a long time. When her father is diagnosed with terminal cancer, Motte looks for a way to say goodbye - to her father and to alcohol.

Lena Schätte, born in 1993 in Lüdenscheid, where she now cares for people suffering from addiction. She studied literary writing in Leipzig. In 2024 she was awarded the W.-G.-Sebald-Literaturpreis.

The event will be moderated by Michael Serrer, Literaturbüro NRW and is being held in cooperation with Düsseldorf Central Library and the Freundeskreis Stadtbüchereien Düsseldorf.
