Frischzelle_31: Suah Im

In the organizer's words:

In her works, Suah Im explores the complexity of human identity, cultural symbols and gendered attributions. To this end, she combines a variety of materials to create expansive installations - be it hardened, partly written-on fabric, stretched tights and black synthetic hair or household objects, videos, moving objects and watercolor drawings. The artist uses their contrasting qualities such as hardness and flexibility, shine and dullness as well as the interplay of taut and loose elements to illustrate human experiences. They stand for strength and weakness, lack of drive and the performance of the individual in society.

Suah Im (*1988 in Bucheon, South Korea) studied installation at the Kunstakademie Stuttgart and experimental film and media art at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. Frischzelle_31" is the artist's first solo museum exhibition.
