Fritz Litzmann, my father and me
In the presence of the director and the main protagonist
(Film with intermission due to overlength)
In his very personal film, filmmaker Aljoscha Pause tells the story of his father Rainer Pause, who founded the renowned cabaret theater "Pantheon" on Bonn's Bundeskanzlerplatz in 1987 and still performs there today in the guise of his character Fritz Litzmann. The film explores the motives of an uncompromising artist and how his realization affected the development of his son. Why was family never a real competitor to the radical way of life? Why was the father unable to stop his son's youthful downward spiral? A (contemporary) journey by father and son to the sources of their dreams, ideas and fears - through German cabaret history, back to the Bonn Republic and the politically turbulent 1970s. With the participation of Carolin Kebekus, Oliver Masucci, Michael Mittermeier, Bastian Pastewka, Gerhard Polt, Sebastian Pufpaff, Helge Schneider, Georg Schramm, Florian Schroeder and many more.
