Fritzi Ernst is back! After her debut "Keine Termine", the new album "Jo-Jo" will be released on 06.12.2024. Yay! Accordingly, the first single "Ich steh im Bett" (I'm standing in bed) is rushing through the system and making its way through the tweeters - or earpods.

Don't worry, "Ich steh im Bett" also sounds unmistakably like Fritzi Ernst right from the start. Cheerfully playful squeaky synths and the best NDW instrumentation form the foundation for "Ich steh im Bett", which you could find yourself dancing to alone in the kitchen and which tells of nothing less than the creative process behind the songwriting. How to come up with a song, lesson 1, but it's also about the struggle that has always gone hand in hand with making art, especially today of course: "If I have to, I'll make myself crazy / In bad times until I die / Jackpot or unemployed".

What makes the song so great is the way in which the Fritzi Ernst approach relates the annoying conditions of making art. When it says: "I need the well-paid slot", it's true, but at the same time makes fun of such ridiculously economic wording. Self-empowerment through exhibition. You'd rather not meet people who really only make art to get the well-paid slots.

After the debut "Keine Termine" (2021), Fritz Ernst announces their second album after the end of Schnipo Schranke with "Jo-Jo". Once again, all songs were produced together with Ted Gaier from Die Goldenen Zitronen and Danika Arndt is once again responsible for the fantastic artwork. ZEIT saw the solo debut "Keine Termine" as a work in which the "do-it-yourself principle is no longer self-empowerment, but a prescribed way of life under neoliberalism." Der Spiegel heard a melancholy debut in the middle of the "post-pandemic war-is-over party atmosphere". While the first album meandered somewhere between depression pop and pop depression, "Jo-Jo" comes across as more lighthearted, but no less abysmal.
