Jeremy Nedd achieved his international breakthrough with his humorous and captivating choreographic work. With "From Rock to Rock", the choreographer (and former Ballett Basel dancer) is making his first guest appearance in Frankfurt. Inspired by a rapper's copyright lawsuit against a video game company, Jeremy Nedd explores a dance movement known as "Milly Rock". Five performers (including the multi-talented Brandy Butler, Zen Jefferson, Nasheeka Nedsreal and Serge Desroches) explore Milly Rock, a dance movement inspired by the rapper 2 Milly. They trace the hidden poetry and virtuoso freedom to be found in social and viral dance movements. A look into the "algorhythm" of marginalized movement languages raises the question: Can a dance step belong to someone? And if so, who actually benefits from it? "From Rock to Rock" is a close examination of black pop and jazz culture - haunting, yet full of lightness.
