The port was certainly the most important "transshipment point" in Roman Cologne. Building materials as well as many everyday goods were landed there. In the first century AD, it was located on an arm of the Rhine roughly between
Rheingasse and Trankgasse. It has left hardly any traces in today's cityscape. And yet we now know a great deal about it. The guided tour on Saturday, 28.06.2025, led by Heinz Günter Horn and Thomas Otten, will explore this on site. Of course, there will be a lot of archaeology, stories and history.
